Wednesday, August 27- OPENING DIALOGUES

Part 1: Town Hall Meeting

Guiding Topic: The Role of Youth in Tackling the Challenges of Youth unemployment

In order to properly address the issues that affect the youth, they have to be given a platform to voice concerns, and be given an opportunity to dialogue on these issues. The Town Hall meeting will serve as the platform for the attendants to come together and listen to 5 young dynamic Cameroonian Leaders sharing experiences and success stories in starting their own business and/or working in the public sector.

The Town hall will address the following questions:

  • What is the role of the Cameroonian Youth in building up the future of Cameroon?

  • How can Cameroonian youth economically engage the world, and attain a competitive edge in a global environment?

  • How can more young Africans be inspired to success through information sharing?

  • Can Cameroonian youth overcome their challenges and become efficient leaders to their communities?

  • What are the challenges, and opportunities for young Cameroonians in different industries?

Part 2: Transition: School to Career

In an environment where youth unemployment is particularly high, graduating from school and moving into the workforce is one of the most challenging transitions any young person can encounter. For new graduates, this transition means learning a new set of skills and adapting to a new set of roles. While this is a difficult part of transition, it presents an opportunity for young people to either join an already existing business, or start their own business. Furthermore, the transition provides a great opportunity to develop skills through internships that offer professional training, and learning to put into practice new skills through volunteering.
